Hello, Monday lunchtime is when we round up some of the stories you might have missed over the weekend Homes across Preston were left with no water in the midst of rising temperatures. United Utilities were alerted to the issue in the PR1 and PR5 areas at around 12.40pm on Saturday. The supplier said homes were left without water due to a burst main at Capitol Centre Retail Park in Walton-le-Dale. Elsewhere, one of the oldest swimming baths in Lancashire is set to close for major repairs that will extend its life by another 20 years. Brinscall Swimming Pool in Chorley will shut its doors for six months to allow a £600,000 overhaul to be carried out after borough councillors were told that the pool structure could fail “catastrophically” if remedial action was not taken. It was also a packed weekend of events with the Commonwealth Games baton coming through Preston and the Beat-Herder music festival finishing for another year. In sport, PNE won their friendly at Accrington and are hoping for a big week in the transfer market with less than two weeks to go until the start of the new Championship season.
