Doughnut shop controversy: Voodoo Doughnut, a Portland, Oregon-based doughnut chain that has opened up in the French Quarter, is drawing criticism from the local Voodoo community for bastardizing the religion's name and symbolism. Anthony McAuley has the details.
Sales chasing? The New Orleans City Council wants the state to review Assessor Erroll Williams’ most recent assessment of local property values to make sure he isn’t engaging in a tactic known as “sales chasing,” the forbidden practice of selectively appraising recently sold properties. Williams has been accused of doing it before, and has consistently denied it, calling the council's latest action a political stunt. Ben Myers has the story.
Suspect shot by NOPD: A New Orleans police officer on Thursday shot and injured a man authorities say was wanted in connection with a homicide earlier that day in Mid-City. The man was taken to the hospital, but authorities say he and another man detained at Allen Toussaint Boulevard in Gentilly will be booked on weapons charges. Gabby Killett has what we know so far.
