On July 18, 1972, The Canberra Times reported that the ACT police had warned members of the Aboriginal Tent Embassy they would be moved on. This was in anticipation of the amendment of laws regarding trespass on Commonwealth property, which was expected to outlaw camping on non-leased land in the ACT.
