From Me to We

One of the greatest shifts you’ll make in your life is from "Me" to "We."

For the first 31 years of my life, I was mostly about Me.

Then I lost my job during the dot com crash.

Then I almost went bankrupt.

Then I got really negative and depressed.

Then I asked why I was so miserable and realized it was because I was focused on me and my own success instead of making my life about helping others.

I knew I had to turn the M upside down to a W and turn my life and focus upside down if I wanted to be happy and that’s what I did.

I made the shift from Me to We and began to look for ways to love, serve and care. (this shift inspired my book The Carpenter)

Recently I’ve had a lot of people ask me how I got all these amazing elite coaches to agree to speak at Training Camp Live and it’s because of the one shift I made 23 years ago from Me to We.

I made relationships a priority. I invested in them and poured into them. I made time for them when they needed me. I sacrificed time and energy to share advice, support, and encouragement. I kept showing up without expecting anything in return. I built trust because I didn’t have an agenda. My agenda was to help them with their agenda.

I never thought "if I do this for them in 2012 then one day when I have a Training Camp event in 2025 they will come to it." It wasn’t even a thought in my mind.

But when you serve for the right reasons and show up for others for a long time, they show up for you. It’s not why you do it but it’s what happens.

Me to We is not about instant gratification. It’s not about winning the short game.

Me to We is about moving from selfish to selfless and becoming a better and happier person... and in the very long run this leads to long-term impact and success.

This also has everything to do with marriage and parenting and over the years as I moved from Me to We, I got better and my wife and kids got better as a result.

I hope you join me on the journey from Me to We.

Lead Positive, Jon
