The Power Principle

I woke up the other day to a power outage. I realized very quickly how dependent we are on electricity. My lights, air conditioner, computer and phone didn't work and the Florida temperature was rising fast.

Thankfully a few hours later the power came back on and everything magically worked once again.

It turns out, a car hit a transformer in my neighborhood and caused the power outage.

Because of the disconnection we lost power.

When they fixed the transformer and restored the connection we received and gained power.

It’s the same with us.

When we are disconnected we lose power. When we are connected we gain power.

Consider that people with mental health disorders report feeling isolated, separate and disconnected.

The root for the Greek word of "anxious" means to separate and divide.

Many during the pandemic struggled mentally and emotionally because they were divided, disconnected and felt powerless.

Kids spending time on their phones have more connections than ever and yet are often left feeling disconnected and powerless.

When someone experiences trauma it often creates a neurological separation in the brain. A disconnection occurs and often leads to a feeling of powerlessness, anxiety and fear.

The same goes for teams. A team that is divided and disconnected is a weak team.

A team that is united and connected is a powerful team.

I wrote all about this in The One Truthand explain that it all comes down to oneness (connection) and separateness (disconnection).

If disconnection is the problem then connection is the solution.

A connected life is a powerful life.

Relational psychology shows that we heal through connection with others. We heal in community.

Other research shows that we heal and transform through a spiritual connection.

A disconnection is not permanent.

Anyone who has experienced a broken bone knows we have the power to reconnect and heal the break.

I’ve worked with many weak and disconnected teams that reconnected and became ONE Team on a powerful mission.

I’ve seen how great leaders foster connections individually and collectively with their teams and organizations to create powerful results.

So, if you are feeling tired, weak, anxious, and/or fearful perhaps it’s a sign that you are disconnected. Knowing this you can now take steps to plug in and reestablish a connection with yourself, your family, friends, team and spiritually.

The power is always there waiting and ready to benefit you. You just have to restore the connection that’s been lost.
