Possibility of tornadoes, high winds and hail today

Baton Rouge is at a moderate to high risk of severe weather today, with the possibility of tornadoes and damaging winds, a National Weather Service forecaster said Tuesday.   

"We can't rule out hail and flash flooding" as other possible hazards, said Hannah Lisney, who works with the NWS office in Slidell. Schools and government buildings across the region are shut down today. Check out the latest.


Attorneys of a man being tried this week for shooting and killing a panhandler told jurors the panhandler was aggressive and threatened to kill him during the fatal encounter outside the Trader Joe’s in Baton Rouge in 2020.
