he past month saw major global milestones on the road to net-zero, most notably the end of the first Global Stocktake.  


Alongside the positive call to transition away from fossil fuels, conversations at COP28 reaffirmed the need for commitments to be accompanied by transparency and clear transition or action plans. 


Without world-class data there is no transparency, a vital step towards accountability. CDP drove record-breaking levels of environmental data disclosure in 2023 – explore what our data tells us about the state of corporate and financial sector environmental activity in 2023. 




Almost half of the financial institutions that disclosed through CDP report holding a combined

~US$9 trillion

in fossil fuel financing across their portfolios. 


That's equivalent to the combined GDP of Japan and Germany.
