P3: Post-Photography Prototyping Prize 2016

SUPPORTING DEVELOPMENTAL WORK BY YOUNG ARTISTS IN POST-PHOTOGRAPHY

P3 engages directly with the creative and conceptual opportunities for photography opened up by digital technologies. Photography now is primarily an algorithmic form, linked to data processing, the network, multi-platform presentation, and the merging of still and moving media. Some of its characteristics include an involvement with the circulatory power of the digital image, the significance of strategies of adoption or appropriation, and an interest in processes of digital figuration akin to the graphic arts. Socially, post-photography escapes categories of occupational definition and engages artists who work with a variety of visual media and technologies of development.

P3 aims to build on the developmental aspects of digital culture and encourages the formulation of prototypes. Earlier this year a selection of international experts was asked to nominate young artists working in post-photography. The nominees submitted proposals and a shortlist of five were selected by a jury to enter a prototyping phase.

In collaboration with the Julius Baer Foundation

nouveau prix « Post- Photography Prototyping Prize, P3
