Editor's Picks According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, women accounted for 82% of physicians matching into OB-GYN residency programs in 2016. Now for the sake of diversity, some programs are taking steps to recruit male physicians. After the new resident class has been determined by the Match process, the program director must plan for new resident orientation. New residents will have an orientation at the institutional level and the program level. In the fall of 2015, the ACGME Board of Directors began a complete review of the Common Program Requirements. Phase 1 of the project resulted in the adoption of a revised Section VI of the standards that went into effect last July. Meanwhile, the ACGME Board appointed a Phase 2 Task Force in September 2016 to conduct a review of Sections I–V. This workbook includes knowledge application questions grouped by topic areas, listings of commonly used acronyms, and helpful GME resources. Program coordinators can use this workbook to create a self-learning plan, to aid in the creation of a procedural manual for their offices, to identify areas for personal and program improvement, and to prepare for ACGME continuous accreditation through education. Although created for the individual coordinator, this tool can also be purchased and distributed by GME offices as a way to support the education of their program managers and staff.
