A second winless Formula 1 season for Lewis Hamilton has a lot to do with the dominance of Red Bull and Max Verstappen, but alarm bells are certainly ringing at Mercedes.
With seven titles under his belt, Hamilton’s quest for an eighth depends on the team at its Brackley base to build a better car, one that’s capable of taking on the amazing machine that’s produced about 20 miles east in Milton Keynes.
In an in-depth interview with selected media including Motorsport.com, Hamilton says the “zigzag” development direction is what needs to be addressed – after binning its original ‘zeropod’ design for the ground effect era.
