Good afternoon,

Last night it emerged that Preston's Covid rate has spiked again, putting it in the top three worst affected areas in the country.

South Ribble's rate has also risen sharply.

Meanwhile a Chorley couple has been fined £1,000 after failing to quarantine after a holiday.

We will keep you abreast with the all  latest coronavirus news throughout the afternoon, including coverage of a Lancashire press conference this afternoon, via our live blog.

In other news, there is a proposed shakeup of parking  at Leyland's Worden Park with users pitted against the clock.

And a rape victim has bravely told how her violent ex-partner sent her letter from his jail cell and fears he won't give up until she's dead.

Don't forget to check out some of the beautiful bundles of joy born during August.

Regards and enjoy your weekend, Nicola Adam
