Good afternoon,

Today the news team is busy with the focus back on coronavirus as Preston faces down the harsh reality that infection rates are shooting up - and new restrictions may be on the cards.

The city's Switch nightclub remains a talking point- will it be able to open again this weekend or not? It has issued a statement on the subject.

Meanwhile, many of you have paid tribute to longstanding Granada Reports presenter Tony Morris, 57, whose death was announced yesterday.

It's been a bad 24 hours for business with sports retailer and gym group DW Sports, founded by former Wigan Athletic manager Dave Whelan,  put into administration with jobs at risk across the company.

More than 1,000 jobs are at risk as Pizza Express eyes 67 restaurant closures as it restructures to survive.

Please keep an eye on our business section, curated by business editor David Nowell, for all the latest.

But there is one ray of light in the news today.

Over in Blackpool, illumination bosses announced this morning they will shine a light on Covid-19 heroes - literally - as part of the world's most famous light's display with the help of curator Laurence Llewelwyn Bowen as part of the previously announced extended season.

Wishing you a happy Tuesday, please stay safe and keep an eye on the website for all the latest.
