Good afternoon,

It's a bit warm, as us northerners say!

But make the most of that sunshine, it looks like it will cloud over tomorrow and more storms and rain are expected.

It was a somewhat tragic start to the news day this morning with news that a driver has died after a late night car crash.

In the north of the county, fire crews were deployed to a serious chemical leak in Heysham Port.

Meanwhile, in Preston, plans are afoot to double in size a year-old retail park in Fulwood to include, among other proposals, a crazy golf course.

Plus, we reveal when a final decision will be made about reopening Chorley Hospital's A&E department, after we pressed for answers.

And we have been talking toBlackpool-based singing superstar Linda Nolan about the shock news she and sister Anne were informed they had cancer within days of each other.

We will, of course, be keeping you up to date with any news regarding coronavirus through the day.

If you are interested in applying for a paid role as the county steps up its test and trace operation, we have the latest on those jobs.

Don't forget your guide to Preston's partial lockdown restriction is here if you need guidance.

As always, you can follow our daily live blog for all the news.

And don't forget, there's plenty to smile about - including news Lancashire-based heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has taken up weeding!

From our entirely Lancashire-based news team, have a lovely day and good luck to all those anticipating A'Level results tomorrow!

Take care, Nicola
