Moore, Westerman urge consideration of environmental impact as illegal border crossings surge
Yesterday, House Committee on Natural Resources Ranking Member Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.) and Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations Ranking Member Blake Moore (R-Utah) sent a letter to U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, urging the department to address the negative impacts of illegal immigration on federally protected areas and tribal lands due to the illegal migrant surges at the Southern border. DNC makes investment in Utah Democratic Party to boost organizing efforts ahead of 2022 election
This week, the Utah Democratic Party announced that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) has granted the partyâs request for funding to bolster their voter outreach program ahead of the 2022 midterm elections.
The DNC is providing the Utah Democratic Party with a grant to hire a State Legislative Director, who will focus on reelecting Democratic legislators and supporting Democratic candidates for state House and Senate. This investment will help equip the Utah Democratic Party to build the foundation for a Democratic legislature at a time when the importance of state government is at the forefront of our fight for everything from access to education to womenâs health care. Emerging Leaders Initiative of Utah to host U.S. Senate forum
The Emerging Leaders Initiative of Utah is excited to announce a candidate forum for the 2022 U.S. Senate race. The forum will afford young voters across the state an opportunity to interact with candidates for the U.S. Senate and hear their outlook on the issues that matter most. The forum will be held on Thursday, June 9th from 6:00-7:30 pm in the Founders Room at Zions Bank. After a brief welcome from ELI leadership, each candidate will have an opportunity to introduce themselves and share why they decided to enter the race. Lee outlines SSI reforms to help more children transition from poverty
Last week, Ranking Member Mike Lee (R-UT) released a Joint Economic Committee report outlining policy reforms to improve outcomes for children enrolled in the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program. The report explores how the SSI program, originally created to serve low-income elderly and disabled Americans who cannot support themselves, has grown in recent decades to enroll more than one million American children. While providing SSI to children was meant to help them become self-supporting adults, the report shows that the SSI child program has failed to set up children for independence and success as adults.
