Pubs, bars and restaurants in England will be forced to close by 10pm from Thursday, Boris Johnson is set to announce.
View email online | | | | | Sep 22, 2020 | | | | | | Good evening, Just a few weeks ago we were told to return to offices, prepare to start watching our favourite football teams from inside stadiums and to get eating out to help get the economy moving again. Today all of that advice has been abandoned and we are tightening restrictions, not just in Lancashire, but everywhere across England. All pubs, restaurants and takeaways will have to shut by 10pm, groups of more than six will not be able to take part in indoor sport and the number of guests allowed at weddings has been reduced to 15. Some people believe this is a complete over-reaction, including those of you who have taken the time to email me your views: hat it will wreck the economy when only ‘a few’ people are at genuine risk of serious illness. We are, however, still finding out about this virus. Already, a new condition, long Covid, has emerged where often young and fit people are finding it impossible to shake off life-reducing symptoms. Yes, there will be far-reaching consequences, but surely it is right to be cautious in the short term? Could I ask a favour of you all? Would you fill in this survey for me about how you found life in lockdown and what changes you would like to see in local society in future? It takes just six minutes and I'd be really grateful. Thanks very much. https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/bc-lep Keep sending me your views at gillian.parkinson@jpress.co.uk Gillian Parkinson Editor | |
