Free is not free. This is true for many things, especially when it comes to email services. Gmail is one of the biggest out there, and while you don't pay in cash, you are giving up your privacy. We found an alternative to Gmail that's more secure and less invasive.

On an iPhone: Open the Reminders app, tap New Reminder and give it a name, like "Eat lunch.” Tap the info circle next to the name you entered and toggle Remind me on a day "on" and choose how often you'd like your reminder to repeat. Hit done.

If you have an Android, you likely already use Google Calendar. Open the app, and in the bottom right corner, tap on Create event, then select Reminder. Enter your reminder, like "Call mom." Select your desired date, time and frequency. (I bet your mom would appreciate a daily call.) Tap Save.
