Editor's Notes Big news on the M&A front on this Monday: Comms giant Verizon is sellng AOL and Yahoo to Apollo Global Management in an acquisition deal worth $5 billion. Why does this deal for a pair of the internet's legacy brands matter to Baltimore? Like many things in Baltimore tech, it all comes back to Advertising.com. This is just the latest acquisition deal involving iconic Baltimore advertising tech brands Advertising.com (acquired by AOL in 2004) and Millennial Media (acquired by AOL, when it was part of Verizon, in 2015). The national news reports on the deal have hinted that the local operation matters: CNBC reports advertising technology remains one of the most valuable pieces the companies still have. But we're still wondering: What will it mean for Baltimore and the local employees that are still based in Canton?
