Happy Labor Day!

Over the weekend I went out to dinner with one of my pro athlete clients.

...While we were out he shared three key mindsets that helped him rise to the top of his game.

And today, I want to share those mindsets with you.

To help you bring the same level of grit, determination, and "unstoppability" to your business that he brings to his sport.

They are...

1. The "400 Book Principle"

A couple of years ago...

My friend Tim Grover...

A world renown trainer who worked with Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and Dwayne Wade and author of the best-selling book Relentless

...Came out to speak at my Perfect Life Retreat.

And the night before his presentation...

He stayed up until the early hours of the morning signing more than 400 of his books by hand.

Because he'd promised that he'd give signed copies to each of our attendees.

The thing is...

No one asked Tim to sign 400+ books.

But as the title of his book says... he's a Relentless guy who gets the job done on time every time.

And that's the first mindset you must adopt to level up in your business and become an Empire Builder.

You MUST become relentlessly committed to your goals and do whatever it takes to get the job done.

This might means working until 4 in the morning like my buddy Joel to get a new product launched...

Or travelling across the country to have a meeting with an investor or prospect that could offer you a life changing deal...

Or writing out proven sales letters by hand every morning to improve your copy chops...

You must adopt the habit of doing the hard and uncomfortable things that none of your competitors are willing to do.

The good news is...

...Resilience is a trait that can be developed.

The more you learn to push yourself to your limits and challenge your ideas about what you're capable of... the more resilient you'll become.

Whether this means taking an ice bath once a week... fasting for 36 hours once a month like I do... or running long distances in the blistering heat...

Demand more from yourself than others demand from you and push harder when others quit.

If you'll develop this trait... the score will take care of itself.

2. The Stockdale Paradox

The second trait you must develop to dominate in business and life is resilience.

More specifically...

You must remember the Stockdale Paradox...

And "Accept the brutal facts of your situation while never losing hope in a positive future."

Listen...

Winter is here and it's here to stay.

2020 has brought challenges and obstacles that none of us could have anticipated.

And it'll likely get a lot worse before it gets better.

Now...

All of us are going to have a rough road ahead.

...And that's fine. It's just part of the game.

But it's up to you to be resilient...

To accept the new challenges and hard times that are coming our way while still being positive and optimistic about the future you're creating.

Just like Admiral James Stockdale...

Who spent more than 7 years in a Vietnamese POW camp.

Unlike the other soldiers imprisoned with him...

...Admiral Stockdale didn't allow himself to fall for the false hope that "I'll be out by Christmas".

He knew that he would likely be trapped for years...

And that he would suffer some of the worst experiences a human can have until the war ended.

But he never lost hope that the war would end...

And that one day... whenever that day was... he would walk out of that camp a free man and return to his family and country.

In the end...

It was his willingness to confront the brutal facts without losing hope that allowed Admiral Stockdale to survive and regain his freedom.

3. The Law of 8,000

I created my first email newsletter almost 22 years ago in 1998.

And since then...

...I've written an email almost every day for my readers and customers.

In total...

I've probably written more than 8,000 emails over my career.

And those daily emails are directly responsible for many of my 7-figure successes.

Which brings me to the third trait you must develop... consistency.

Just like my professional athlete client shows up to practice every single day...

...You must develop the habit of unbreakable consistency in your business.

Whether it means publishing a piece of content on Instagram every single day...

Writing an email to your newsletter every single day...

Or simply showing up for your team and providing the leadership and guidance they need (every single day)...

You MUST develop the habit of showing up consistently.

EVEN when you don't want to.

As Richard Rodgers said...

"80% of success is just showing up."

When you combine these three mindsets...

When you're relentless, resilient, and consistent in every area of your life and busines...

...Success becomes inevitable.

If you will keep showing up... keep putting in the work... and keep going the extra mile...

...You will create your perfect life.
