The OOSTERSCHELDE came back from drydock last night. She was already shining above the waterline, but now she is also covered with a fresh layer of paint under water.
Last week, we decided that the ship can’t go to Cape Verde this year. This means that the OOSTERSCHELDE is not going to sail upcoming winter. Gerben is trying to figure out if we can do a major maintenance project instead. We do have the time now, but a lot has to be prepared. And, of course, we have to look at what it is going to cost and how we are going to get that amount of money. Therefore, we are working on a financial plan together with the board of the foundation. Hopefully, we can count on the support of our friends in these difficult times.
With the new rapid tests and an upcoming breathalyzer and vaccine, we expect that we will be able to make beautiful trips again in 2021. The last few weeks we have been working on a sailing program for next spring. The ship will stay closer to home than we were used to the past years so that our guests and crew do not have to take many flights. The voyages are published on our website. We still apply the favourable booking conditions: you pay a small amount at the time of booking and if a voyage can’t continue because of COVID-19, you will get your money back.
