Good morning Marketer, how are you holding up?

With most of us working from home amid the COVID-19 pandemic, digital workflow and project management tools are having their moment to shine. And with good reason, too. As organizations become distributed overnight, we need one central source of project information.

“Marketing teams really need a single source of truth. They need a place where they can collaborate, not just with other marketers, but other people in the company because they’re usually our stakeholders,” said Brad Sanzenbacher, senior corporate communications manager at Wrike.  “If they can get visibility in a centralized hub, they don’t need to come and ask you for status, they don’t need to host meetings to figure out the status of projects,” he said during his presentation at Discover MarTech.

Whether it’s through platforms like Wrike, Trello, Workfront, Airtable or several others, marketers who are working at home during the pandemic are finding that project management tools give them some peace of mind during these uncertain times.

In fact, a recent survey by NewsCred found marketers who were using a project or workflow management software platform were nearly 30% less likely to list things like staff realignments and changing priorities as major challenges compared to those who were not using project management platforms.

A new CTA for TikTok influencers, YouTube combats misinformation head-on, more fonts on Instagram

TikTok’s new ‘Shop Now’ button. TikTok is testing a new ‘shop now’ CTA that influencers can tack on to videos for branded partnerships. Advertisers can link to the influencer’s post from their own ad content, taking viewers to the post with the CTA. According to Digiday, the new format is still in testing, and ad revenue gets split between TikTok and the influencer.

Conspiracies and misinformation. YouTube has taken down conspiracy theorist David Icke’s official channel after numerous warnings that Icke had violated the platform’s policies with misleading information around the current pandemic. Some might cry censorship, but it’s clear that YouTube is committed to keeping misinformation under control – especially at a critical time when so many users are searching for facts.

More fonts on Instagram. Creative nerds – this one is for you. Instagram is bringing more font options to Stories, including new effects to make your type treatment pop. For now, Instagram is testing the feature on a “small percentage of people.” But from the looks of it, the new fonts could bring more opportunities to elevate your visual branding on Stories.
