School rulesSuperintendent Sito Narcisse said the 6,000 people who work for the East Baton Rouge School System should either prove they're vaccinated or undergo weekly COVID tests. The schools chief surprised everyone by announcing the proposal at the top of Thursday night's board meeting. Though it's up to the board to finalize any such policy, the superintendent at least got the momentum going. Our education reporter Charles Lussier was there to cover it. Here's his dispatch. EMS stretched thinStaffing shortages and frivolous 911 calls have pushed Baton Rouge EMS to the limit. "Even before COVID, we had a lot of misuse of 911, and it was difficult to get people to use it appropriately," one spokesman told us. "Now, the whole system is backed up, and when emergency rooms are full, it bleeds out onto our staff." Reporter Elyse Carmosino has the story. Wanna bet?
