Good afternoon, Under normal circumstances this weekend would see children and their families all across Northern Ireland enjoying the traditions of Halloween by going to firework displays, fancy dress parties or trick-or-treating around the doors. We all know why Halloween 2020 has to be a much more subdued affair than in previous years. We understand why the streets of Londonderry, usually packed to capacity for one of the biggest Halloween extravaganzas in Europe, will be eerily quiet. Instead, everyone is being asked to stay at home and enjoy a special digital programme of events from the comfort of their sofa (or perhaps behind it!). While the daily figures from the Department of Health are a stark reminder to us why measures like this are so necessary, we can also take hope that there are alternative and imaginative ways we can enjoy some Halloween fun together and build family memories. I hope you enjoy your weekend. Stay safe.
