What's making news in New Orleans?
By Chad Calder | Staff writerGRAPES UP FOR GRABS: Like wine? Want to show that smug friend who brews beer who's boss? Pontchartrain Vineyards, which has been making wine in St. Tammany Parish for three decades, is for sale. You can see what $675,000 will buy you right here. FIELDWOOD'S LEGACY? Houston-based Fieldwood Energy, one of the largest producers in the Gulf of Mexico, said in a recent bankruptcy filing that it's planning to abandon hundreds of oil wells and pipelines in Gulf of Mexico, potentially adding to the fast-growing tangle of neglected oil and gas infrastructure off the Louisiana coast. See why other oil companies say this could potentially lead to disaster. NO FISH STORY: A fish fry held under the interstate is generally good to go rain or shine, but attendees of a Saturday gathering under Interstate 610 were sent scrambling when an accident overhead saw 1,600 gallons of hot spilling down from above. All this and much more are in today’s Front Page and on NOLA.com. Thanks for joining us. CC |
