Now's the time to block off your calendar, and put a hold on that sweet spot in your living room (or lush backyard with a pool?). Here are this week's updates for the reimagined 2020 Philly Tech Week, Sept. 21-25.
EDITOR'S NOTES
- The Dev Conference agenda is here! Serious practitioners get a virtual tasting menu of technical specificity at the full-day, flex-style Developers Conference on Sept. 23. Learn more of what you know well, and lean into areas you want to explore more. Registration will open Aug. 27.
- PTW20 Virtual honors Women's Equality Day. Next Wednesday the 26th is Medtech Day with Amplify Philly @ Home. We're celebrating with a prominent local woman in STEM. Join us at 2:10 for a fireside chat on "The State of Philly MedTech: Research, trends, and COVID-19". Register here and follow us on social to see who our guest speaker will be.
- Finding a new job while playing trivia. In flip flops. So this happened last week. Technical.ly's annual Super Meetup went virtual and included a tech trivia game so intense our synapses left scorch marks. Hiring co's gave Tweet-worthy pitches to attract the best, and meetup group organizers summarized why they're so awesome. Why do we mention this? Perhaps, just perhaps, you'll see something like this in September.
- The return of our glorious historical figures. While #BeenInnovating is PTW20's tagline, it also speaks to this year's editorial recognition of local innovators and impactful change agents who have come before us. In this week's coverage, we explore what this generation of Philly activists can learn from the Black abolitionist James Forten.
| Here's a refresher on the week's tracks: - ART: Where art and technology collide. Think: exhibitions, festivals, community initiatives, etc.
