Here's How Google's $1 Billion Investment in Publishers Will Work

Hi there,

Good morning. Happy Friday!

Google has committed to giving news organizations $1 billion over the next three years to curate and create content for a new program the company is calling "Google News Showcase."

The feature will have publishers feed so-called story panels that will appear on Google News on iOS, with rollout to come to Google Discover and Search.

Google has signed on more than 200 global partners to the program, including publications in Brazil and Germany (live today), as well as Canada and Australia. U.S.-based publications are not yet part of the program, but Google is reportedly “in talks” with potential partners here. Read the full story.

What else we're covering:

Fun Fact: Disney+ subscribers racked up 4.57 million complete views of the Mulan remake.
