Our average Twin Cities high temperature is 44 degrees this time of the year. We’ll see metro area highs in the lower 30s on Saturday. Much of Minnesota will have Saturday highs in the 20s, with lower 30s to the southeast and also in western Wisconsin.  Get the latest on Updraft.

DFLers see ‘historic’ chance to solidify legal abortion in Minnesota
While Minnesotans didn’t directly vote Tuesday on the question of abortion access, supporters believe the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in June to overturn Roe v. Wade and end a nationwide legal right to abortion galvanized many voters as they chose candidates for the Legislature.

“One of my favorite lines is when you come for our rights, we will come for your seats. And we did. And we got it done,” outgoing Senate Minority Leader Melisa López Franzen, DFL-Edina, said Wednesday. “We're going to be able to pass pass the progressive policies, not just for abortion care, but so many other care and reproductive supports that families need.”
 
What else we're watching:
Minnesotans of color gathering for 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' premiere. “It is not often that when you look at Hollywood or you look at television, children of color can look out and see themselves in a positive light so what the franchise did was create this amazing energy for young people of color,” Raazon King, president of Gamma Xi Lambda, a Minnesota chapter of the historically Black fraternity Alpha Phi Alpha, said on Thursday ahead of the premiere. 

Latino community leaders gather in Minneapolis for LíderCon conference. Latino community leaders are gathering in Minneapolis for the LíderCon conference Thursday and Friday. This is the second time LatinoLEAD has held the conference, and its first in-person LíderCon due to the pandemic. 

Turnout among young voters was the second highest for a midterm in past 30 years. Researchers say the 2022 election had the second highest voter turnout among voters under 30 in at least the past three decades. So far, the highest turnout during a midterm for this voting bloc is 2018 when about 31 percent of young people who are eligible to vote cast a ballot.
