U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May followed through on her threat to punish Moscow for the attempted killing of a former spy with the use of a nerve agent made only in Russia. Russian officials were dismissive of the accusation and retaliation, coming just days before Vladimir Putin's almost guaranteed re-election as president. —David E. Rovella
