Good morning. 🌤️ This is always challenging: I want to wish everyone a happy holiday and pleasant gatherings with friends and family, and I do, but we must talk about the dark history of Thanksgiving. Today we speak with Native artists about how they experience this holiday, and what they think we should be reflecting on today. And scholar Joseph Pierce, a Cherokee Nation citizen, pens a strong essay on American art's role in whitewashing Thanksgiving. "You cannot give thanks for what is stolen," he writes.
