Good morning marketers, how are you handling working remotely?
As millions of employees in the global workforce start to work remotely — many for the first time — teams are relying more heavily on video conference and virtual meeting software. And while there are dozens of options to choose from, technology can be unpredictable. With the increased number of users on these platforms, we can anticipate that there will be periods of poor connectivity or limited services.
Just yesterday morning, our team had to make a quick adjustment and move from our usual video conference tool (which was down) to a new platform with little time to make the switch. There was a slight delay in our regularly scheduled editorial meeting, but we were still able to connect.
As we know all too well, having a video conferencing solution in place is only one step toward connecting remotely. With an uptick in the number of organizations and individuals logging into these services, you need to have a fallback plan for your communications systems when the platforms are unable to meet the demands of so many users.
Another helpful practice our team has started? Taking a moment to be mindful and catch our breath in the midst of so many unknowns. Thanks to those of you who have already sent us your mindfulness exercise suggestions! We’ll be running these for as long as it seems useful. See below for our first reader suggestion and feel free to send me any mindful practices you’d like to share at tpeterson@thirddoormedia.com.
