A former PwC Australia partner has revealed for the first time the identity of a key international figure in the firm allegedly linked to its tax leaks, naming an American tax heavyweight in a move that opens the door for the scandal to spread to the firm’s global arms.

Billionaire Mineral Resources managing director Chris Ellison and chair James McClements are set to face more scrutiny around crossover interests in a lithium hopeful embroiled in an investigation by Australia’s corporate watchdog.

Superannuation admin provider Iress underpaid hundreds of ESSSuper’s pensioners, allowed members to incorrectly withdraw $1.57m from its defined benefit reserve and failed to apply default life insurance to certain members, one of whom subsequently died, according to documents filed in the Federal Court.
