Q+A is back – and we’re hitting the road.

Live from the Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre, a short drive from Parliament House in the battleground seat of Eden-Monaro, a power panel of politicians will take YOUR questions on cost-of-living, capitalism, and competition – with a Nobel Prize-winning economist and one of the country’s leading business journalists to keep them honest.

The Reserve Bank kept interest rates on hold this week but warned not to expect a cut this year amid global volatility. Australia is already in a per capita recession, with consumers spending less on events, accommodation and food, according to new data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

Regional operator Rex is in financial ruin after a failed bid to challenge the existing airline duopoly. Industry and tourism bodies say it shows the market is broken. The government vows to shake up how flights are scheduled and crack down on “slot hoarding” by Qantas and Virgin.

Construction union the CFMEU is mired in fresh allegations of misconduct. The government says it will legislate to force branches into administration, while the opposition questions Labor’s ongoing relationship with union bodies.
