Good morning, and welcome to the Saints Insider newsletter for Thursday, Dec. 12. The Saints have another situation on their hands at quarterback in the wake of Derek Carr's injuries against the Giants. Let's look at our lineup of stories.... Yay, or nay? The looming question at Saints camp involves Carr's playing status: Will he play this week or not? The Saints' veteran quarterback suffered a concussion and left injury last week that reportedly might sideline him for the rest of the season. But interim head coach Darren Rizzi isn't ready to rule out Carr for the Saints' game against the Washington Commanders on Sunday at the Superdome. Matt Paras has the story. It looks like there will be a familiar face in the Commanders lineup on Sunday. And it's not former LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels, Zach Ewing reports. Bravo, BreseeSecond-year defensive tackle Bryan Bresee made the game-saving play in the Saints' 14-11 win against the Giants. It was the kind of athletic display that led team officials to draft in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft and a potentially positive sign for his future. Comings and goingsThe Saints added a pair of players to their roster this week, and one was a veteran quarterback. The other was a promising young defensive back. Meanwhile, a member of the Saints' defensive coaching staff is leaving for the college ranks. That's it for today. We'll have more coverage and analysis throughout the week as the Saints ramp up preparations for their game against the Commanders this weekend. Until next time.... Cheers, Jeff Duncan |
