QUEEN TATI:

A FAMILY BOAT FIT FOR ROYALTY

The full-custom Vripack-designed 38m Queen Tati is a dynamic, generational and extended family boat with a build that succeeded against the odds. The first cut of aluminium made by MCP shipyard in Brazil came one month before a global pandemic hit. For many this would have been a sign to hold off. For the owner of Queen Tati, two and a half years of fun had only just begun.

Following 14 years island hopping around south America’s wild and remote archipelago aboard his 23m, the owner’s brief was long and detailed. Top of his wish list was space, and lots of it.

“I needed a yacht that can accommodate my entire extended family,” he says. “I wanted a rooftop that gifts views all around with enough room for us all to camp out under the stars at night if we wanted.”

Vripack delivered with a voluminous observation deck. It’s paired with a sociable wheelhouse, a flybridge with a jacuzzi and three-seater helm for the owner who likes to pilot, and a beach club with high ceilings and a connection to the outdoors.

“My wife wanted all the doors flush to the floor, we wanted the swim platform to be on the same level as the beach club and we like to use the aft deck for both eating and relaxing,” he says. “Small details like that were important to us, which Vripack understood from the start.”

The all-aluminium yacht’s layout maximises storage and guest usage. Of the six guest cabins, two are equipped with Pullman berths. The interior reflects the rich, wood-heavy trends of Latin America, while a gym, outdoor cinema and two double seater jet skis – stored on the side of the boat to keep the aft area free for swimming – ensure the 38m platform is a playground for all. And a large 7m tender named Mini Queen allows large groups of guests to explore together.

“It was important to the owner to have the freedom to anchor in small bays, even in rough seas and despite Brazil’s minimal infrastructure,” explains Vripack’s co-creative director, Bart Bouwhuis. “Queen Tati is a warm and inviting place to be, where noise and vibration are at a minimum and the family’s cruising grounds are limitless.”

Queen Tati is a long-range, high-volume yacht that is technically equipped and self-sufficient. It also has a high wave-piercing bow delivering top speeds of around 21 knots. “We don’t cruise at those speeds very often, but it’s nice to be able to do,” says the owner.

Since taking delivery, the family’s dream to cruise the Caribbean in winter, cross to the Mediterranean for the summer, and return to Brazil thereafter has gone to plan.

“We wanted a boat that has lots of different areas – cosy nooks and seating areas where you can be together yet still move around for a change of scene,” he says. “Queen Tati gives us a big boat experience on a yacht where we feel close to one another. It’s the dream.”
