Good afternoon everyone

One day after the Stormont Executive appeared to suggest that all schools in Northern Ireland would reopen fully in September, confusion reigned on Friday.

In an interview on BBC Radio Ulster’s Talkback programme, Education Minister Peter Weir said that although there would be a reduction in social distancing requirements to one metre, this wouldn’t enable all schools to operate at full capacity in the autumn.

Mr Weir said he anticipated that children would not only return to the classroom on a part-time basis in many schools.

Meanwhile, Northern Ireland has reported one more death related to coronavirus in the last 24 hours, with three more people testing positive for Covid-19

Nationally, the UK’s chief medical officers agreed to downgrade the coronavirus alert level from four to three after a “steady” and continuing decrease in cases in all four nations.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.
