Listen, the next few days will be incredibly distracting…

And it’s okay if you feel tempted to tune in to the TV and the toxicity…

I get it… even I feel the siren’s call of CNN in times like these.

Heck, the old, weak version of me would want to sit right down and get sucked into the sideshow…

all while stress eating leftover mini-Halloween candy bars.

But of course, we can’t do that… the show must go on in our businesses…

We must be the hope, the light, and the optimism for everyone around us - including our family, friends, and our team members at work.

Listen, today I’m widely known as “The World’s Most Disciplined Man” but I wasn’t always that way…

For years I struggled as an introverted, socially anxious, binge-drinking, business owner…

However, at some point I realized as much as I wanted to live the “easy way”…

I also wanted to make an impact and achieve financial freedom for my family...

Just like I know you do.

Becoming successful, writing my books, and increasing my productivity mattered so much more than watching TV…

And so over the years I stumbled across 7 easy steps to help YOU become more disciplined fast…

Once you know what to do...

You’ll get more done, make more money, have better health, and improve your relationships by being more present.

All you have to do is complete one simple challenge per day in just a couple of minutes...

And once you implement these easy steps...

Success will become automatic.

1. Make a promise and keep a promise, starting first thing tomorrow morning

This can be ANYTHING…

Waking up and drinking a cup of water…

Writing an entry in a gratitude journal…

Or going for a run.

Just keep one little promise to yourself.

Here’s why:

When you make and keep this promise it sets off a chain reaction…

You pick up momentum by getting easy wins early.

It feels good and you get motivation to stay on track.

It’s a powerful domino effect.

2. Subtract what slows you down

Take a look at your life and ask yourself…

“What is the distraction or temptation that’s holding me back?”

Is something preventing you from not hitting the snooze button in the morning...?

Or from avoiding checking email first thing when you wake up…?

Maybe there’s something that if you removed it entirely from your life…

EVERYTHING would be much easier.

For example, when I subtracted alcohol from my life...

Being disciplined and getting things done became WAY easier.

3. Get up 5 Minutes Earlier

When I was 30 years old, I suffered severe anxiety attacks.

And I realized one of the reasons I had such bad anxiety is I woke up too late…

Already behind schedule, losing the day before I even got out of bed.

But don’t just start getting up 2 hours earlier than you do now...

Do that and you’ll be exhausted.

Stick to 5 minute increments - keep getting up a bit earlier every day until you find a time that works best for you.

This way, you set yourself up for an easy win each time…

Without being too hard on your body.

4. Toss temptation

Your energy is your life force...

It’s imperative to your success that you preserve and protect it.

Eating the right foods, avoiding the wrong ones, getting enough sleep…

All play a major role in your body’s energy.

Junk food in your pantry, alcohol always on hand, video games or Netflix keeping you up too late at night…

If any physical temptation like this is slowing you down or making you sluggish…

Toss it.

Not all at once, just pick one temptation.

But get rid of it entirely.

If you keep snacking on chips, and as a result feel like garbage both physically and mentally…

Throw that junk right in the trash.

Temptation gone.

5. Get Public Accountability

The secret ingredient to success in any area of life is accountability.

Go and tell someone you’re making the changes we’ve been discussing so they can hold you accountable.

You can announce this through social media or directly to friends, family and coworkers.

You’ll be surprised how powerful this is.

Once you tell the world you want to achieve something…

You’re far more likely to stick to it.

6. DO NOT hit the snooze button (ever again)

This is a great way to combine the previous 5 steps…

Make and keep a promise to yourself to start your day NOT hitting the snooze button.

Subtract distractions and toss temptations that make it hard for you to get up.

Do this and you can keep setting that alarm 5 minutes earlier until you find a sweet spot.

Tell someone (or everyone) you’re doing this… bonus points if it’s someone who will know and call you out if you slip.

Seriously though, that extra 5 minutes snoozing is not good sleep.

And as my good friend Bedros Keuilian likes to say “when you hit snooze, you’re telling your big goals and dreams they can wait”...

Which is not an attitude you want to be subconsciously reinforcing.

7. Get Clear on Your Vision

Finally, to have more discipline in your life…

You must have a vision for the future self you want to become.

If you can tell yourself every day, in detail, what kind of person you want to be and the kind of life you want to live…

It serves as a roadmap to eliminate whatever doesn’t line up with your vision.

Do this and you internalize the habits of a disciplined person…

They become your identity.

And when being a disciplined person becomes your identity…

Success becomes automatic.

Your life will change…

You’ll notice it and other people will too.

You’ll get more opportunities and make more money…

You’ll be less stressed and make more time in your life for the things that matter.

Only do easy things and your life will be hard…

But by doing the hard things, your life will become easier.

Stay strong this week my friend - I guarantee it will be worth it in the long run.

To your success,

Craig
