Radically Rethinking Technical Services Tuesday, November 12, 2019 3-4 PM ET, 12-1 PM PT
Join Tricia Bengel, MLS-Degreed Librarian, as she helps reshape your thinking on the library users' experience and how to be responsive to your patrons’ current needs. She will help move your tech services departments towards the 21 century by tackling these three subject areas: - We are not our patrons. However, as librarians, we make decisions for our patrons. To meet their needs effectively, we need to involve patrons in our decision making.
- As librarians, if we are not rethinking how we run technical services in light of how radically our collections are shifting, we are staying stagnate.
- Are we spending too much time and energy using cataloging rules that were designed for a card catalog when we are living in a Google world?
