B.C. scientist suspects Sea-to-Sky, North Shore could be home to high-risk radon

Anne-Marie Nicol, a public health researcher, is handing out free radon test kits to residents in the region as part of a citizen science project at Simon Fraser University. The tests take 91 days to complete and Nicol says she expects the results will prove the province should re-categorize the area as having high radon potential.

Sudbury scientist leads deadly radon research
Research led by a Sudbury scientist could shed new light on deadly radon gas.

Since 2016, Dr. Leslie Sutherland, a scientist at Health Sciences North Research Institute, has been researching the impacts of radon, building a unique research program not found anywhere else in Ontario.

Team USA hockey star opens up about miraculous lung cancer recovery
After her diagnosis, Drazan-Malmberg and her husband had their home of six years tested for radon. The levels came back high. They immediately has a radon mitigation system installed.  

Three neighbors followed suit when their houses also tested high.

Most people who develop lung cancer are 50 or older, many of whom smoke cigarettes--though as Drazan-Malmberg says, she isn't most people.
