Hurricane Sally's slow speed and heavy rain amounted to dangerous conditions along the north-central Gulf Coast that could last for two days, officials said. The National Hurricane Center warned Wednesday of "catastrophic" and "life-threatening" flooding as the storm slowly makes its way north-northeast at about 5 mph. "Hurricane Sally is nothing to take for granted," Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey warned on Twitter on Tuesday. "We're looking at record flooding, perhaps breaking historic levels, and with rising water comes a greater risk for loss of life and loss of property." |
