President Cyril Ramaphosa says there are now 61 confirmed cases of coronavirus in South Africa and has declared a national state of disaster.
Their decision follows other South African universities such as UCT and Wits who have suspended classes.
UCT has a confirmed case of the virus on campus. The university was this afternoon made aware that a staff member tested positive for Covid-19.
