Media Winners & Losers

MEDIA WINNER:
Megan Rapinoe

Soccer stars Megan Rapinoe and Margaret Purce were at the White House this week to meet with President Joe Biden for Equal Pay Day.

Before meeting with POTUS, Rapinoe and Purce were in the White House briefing room, and Rapinoe briefly tried her hand at Jen Psaki’s job, pointing to reporters and taking some questions.

Rapinoe stood at the podium and remarked, “It’s so small up here.”

Rapinoe and Psaki briefly chatted about the job, with Rapinoe asking how nervous it makes her on a daily basis.

She also took questions from reporters, saying it was an honor to be invited “and continue the fight that we’ve had for a long time.”

“A much more welcoming administration, obviously,” she said of the current White House.

It was a great capper to her earlier testimony, and very successful day in D.C.

MEDIA LOSER:
Dick Morris

Newsmax host Dick Morris offered up a contorted, nativist attack on Joe Biden, trying to link the president's revocation of the Muslim travel ban to the Boulder mass shooter.

The killer who immigrated to the U.S. from Syria 19 years before Biden became president.

During Morris’ appearance as a guest on American Agenda, the former presidential adviser and host of Newsmax’s Dick Morris Democracy trafficked in a common xenophobic trope, claiming Biden “opened the floodgates” to immigrants from countries like Syria. The alleged killer came to the U.S. with his family 19 years ago when he was just three years old.

“There’s an overwhelming point here, which is that the killer was a Syrian refugee and Donald Trump banned refugees from terror-sponsoring countries like Syria,” said Morris, leaving out the timeline and continuing to dismiss it even after Newsmax host Heather Childers pointed it out.

MSNBC and Peacock host Mehdi Hasan said he was prepared to dump his entire interview with Rep. Dan CrenshawJoe Biden legitimately won the 2020 presidential election.

The hard-charging interviewer was on the hot seat as this week's guest on The Interview.

The A-Block

“I think it’s just disgusting"

Fox News meteorologist Janice Dean tore into New York Governor Andrew Cuomo amid reports that he gave prioritized coronavirus testing access to his family and top administration officials.

Dean has been once of Cuomo’s fiercest critics for nearly a year, ever since her in-laws died after the covid pandemic swept through their nursing home. Dean has held Cuomo personally responsible for this, and the governor is under massive, ongoing pressure to resign between his nursing home scandal, multiple sexual harassment allegations, and now the revelation that the New York Department of Health was directed to give special testing access to Cuomo and his family members and friends, including his brother. CNN's Chris Cuomo.

On Thursday, Dean became emotional as she spoke to Steve Doocy about how taxing it has been leading the charge against Cuomo.

“I don’t know how much I can continue to do this, because it is really tough,” she said as her voice was cracking. “It’s tough on me and it’s tough on my family.”

When Doocy brought up the reports of Cuomo’s preferential treatment, Dean tore into the governor again as she said nursing home residents “weren’t allowed” to be tested even as the coronavirus swept through.

“I think it’s just disgusting,” said Dean.
