Rare SEC double play for Crews, Skenes

The votes are in, and as expected two Tigers are considered the top baseball players in the SEC.

LSU center fielder Dylan Crews was named SEC player of the year for the second straight year, while the Tigers' Paul Skenes was named SEC pitcher of the year.

It's the third time one program has swept the awards in the same year, following Georgia in 2008 and Florida a decade later. And well earned, considering how dominant both players have been this season.

Crews and Skenes lead the No. 3-seeded Tigers (42-13) into the SEC Tournament on Wednesday in Hoover, Alabama. LSU will play the first game Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. against the winner of Tuesday's first game at 9:30 a.m. between No. 6 South Carolina and No. 11 Georgia, the team LSU just won two of three from this past weekend. Here's a primer on the rest of the SEC field.

LSU isn't the only SEC team that's had to cope with injuries this season. Leah Vann gives a rundown of what else other programs have been dealing with.

Our Patrick Magee is back with his final NCAA Tournament projections. And our intrepid sports betting staff are back with the latest odds on who is expected to win the SEC Tournament.

Softball's season is over after the Tigers lost two in the regional final to UL on Sunday. Time for a look at where LSU is and where the Tigers have come from.

Finally, a look at the LSU track and field teams as they gear up for NCAA regional competition in Jacksonville, Florida.

That's all for now, folks. Thanks for reading and subscribing. Stick with us each day through the end of the 2022-23 LSU athletic year.
