Good morning and happy Tuesday. Here are some of our top headlines.
'Free at last': For the first time in nearly a decade, former Mayor Ray Nagin is free from the supervision of the federal government. But Nagin, who was sentenced to a 10-year prison term in 2014 on a raft of corruption charges, still has one obligation to the federal government to satisfy. Gordon Russell has the details.
The Saffron report: The saga of Saffron the opossum continues. In a recently released report detailing Saffron's seizure during Carnival, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries officials claim the animal was found “unclean, underweight, and missing pelage (hair) in multiple places.” Doug MacCash has the story.
Metairie Towers deal: A Dallas-based developer with deep ties to Old Metairie is set to purchase the former Metairie Towers complex and convert the 1970s-era property into high-end apartments. The long-troubled building has been vacant since Hurricane Ida. Stephanie Riegel has more on the plan.
