U.S. Stores Stock 'Slave' Seafood Prepped by North Koreans

Americans buying salmon for dinner at Walmart or Aldi may inadvertently have subsidized the North Korean government as it builds its nuclear weapons program, an AP investigation has found. North Koreans outsourced by their government process seafood in China that ends up in American stores and homes. Such laborers are among tens of thousands of workers sent worldwide in what the United States calls "modern day slavery."

Harvey Weinstein Girds to Fight Exposés

Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein has enlisted a team of attorneys to fight New York Times coverage said to be in the works about his personal behavior. NBC News correspondent Ronan Farrow is also said to be working on a big heave about the mogul with the New Yorker magazine.

Russia Targets NATO Troops' Smartphones, Officials Say

Russia appears to be targeting NATO soldiers' smartphones to gather information about operations and troop strength. Soldiers report strange problems on their personal phones, including attempts to access data and sudden disappearances of phone contacts. Some officials believe the aim is to intimidate NATO troops near the Russian border.

Why Car Infotainment Could Kill You

The infotainment technology that automakers are cramming into the dashboards of new vehicles is making drivers take their eyes off the road and hands off the wheel for dangerously long periods of time, an AAA study says. Drivers testing 2017 cars and light trucks in all cases took their eyes off the road and hands off the wheel while using infotainment systems.

Trump Siblings Skirted Condo Felony Rap

In 2012, Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump Jr. were under investigation by New York's Major Economic Crimes Bureau until Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. stepped in and closed the case. That happened after an appeal from one of Vance's biggest donors: a longtime attorney for the elder Donald Trump. Prosecutors had been building a fraud case against the siblings for misleading prospective buyers of units in the Trump SoHo.

When Rehab is More Like Slave Labor

Diversion programs aim to ease jail overcrowding and provide alternatives for nonviolent offenders. But some rehab centers are actually more like work camps for private businesses, an investigation by Reveal suggests. Case in point: the "Chicken Farm," a frigid poultry plant in Oklahoma. "It was a slave camp," says one offender.
