Our alumni are making waves

We love hearing alumni stories on how our courses have impacted your libraries.

After taking our How To Build Diverse Collections online course in the Spring of 2021, Stacey Nunn, Library Specialist (Maryland), BCALA Youth Literary Award Committee member, Black Eyed Susan Award Committee member, and creator of Bookie Blogger, immediately began employing strategies from the course into her personal library practice and her work on awards committees.

Now, she considers the authentic lived experience of the authors and obtains books by diverse authors that aren’t picked up by major publishers.

The impact of using tools and strategies from the course resulted in a greater representation of her patrons, stronger suggestions and reviews for the awards committees she serves on, and a more powerful foundation of support for the collection she’s building.
