| | | What small businesses need to know Changes are coming to the way single-use plastics are used in Western Australia, starting 1 September 2024. As part of Stage 2 of WA’s nation-leading Plan for Plastics, more everyday plastic items are being phased out. Here’s a quick rundown of what’s included in this next round of bans: - Disposable plastic bags used for fresh, unpackaged fruit and veggies.
- Plastic lids for takeaway bowls, trays, and containers.
- Lidded plastic bowls, trays, and containers for dine-in or takeaway food.
The bans were first announced in February 2023, giving businesses time to adjust and find alternatives. To learn more about the banned items visit the WA Plastic Ban website.
