Flynn Clashed With FBI Brass in Backing Agent in Sex Bias Case
Circa News
There is evidence of bad blood simmering for a long time between FBI top brass and Michael Flynn. Two years before the bureau launched a criminal probe against the former Trump national security adviser, Flynn backed a decorated counterterrorism agent in her case accusing now-Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe and other top officials of sexual discrimination, according to documents and interviews.

NSA Web 'Traffic Shaping' Could Allow Unrestrained Spying
ZDNet
A new analysis of documents leaked by whistleblower Edward Snowden details a highly classified technique that allows the National Security Agency to divert U.S. internet traffic overseas in order to conduct unrestrained data collection on Americans. Citizens otherwise would enjoy constitutional protections.

Video Isn't Providing 20/20 Vision in Police Shootings
New York Times
As three trials this month show, video recording of police does not guarantee convictions in police-shooting cases. In some trials, a single piece of body-camera footage illustrates competing viewpoints. And in the infamous Philando Castile case in Minnesota, dashboard camera video did not provide a close-up view of the front seat. Was Castile reaching for a gun or not? A juror said she couldn't tell -- reasonable doubt favoring the accused cop.

Reuters

The seven sites, operated out of Europe, purport to sell items including fabric, maps, gift wrap and other items. In fact, they are fake outlets, part of a multinational system using merchant category codes to disguise payments for the $40-billion global online gambling industry, which is illegal in many countries and some U.S. states.

Shorenstein Center
After her imprisonment in Iran, including 69 nights in solitary confinement, Yeganah Rezaian is shining a light on how other women journalists are similarly mistreated in Muslim countries. She describes online harassment and blackmail, defamation of character and sex-for-access demands -- all routine occupational hazards.
