According to a new CNBC poll, 81% of Americans believe we’ll be seeing a recession in 2022.

This sentiment seems to transcend party lines: 91% of Republicans, 81% of independents, and 73% of Democrats predicted a recession this year.

Nearly half (48%) of all Americans also stated that they are thinking about rising prices “all the time.”

Even Goldman Sachs has now jumped on the bandwagon, forecasting that the Russia-Ukraine war could plunge the US and Europe into recession.

“[We] now see the risk that the US enters a recession during the next year as broadly in line with the 20% to 35% odds currently implied by models based on the slope of the yield curve,” wrote Goldman Chief Economist Jan Hatzius.
