HSE's annual MSDs Risk-reduction through design awards are now open for nominations Musculoskeletal injuries and conditions can affect the back, joints and limbs. The most recent statistics show that approximately 6.6 million working days are lost in Great Britain due to work-related musculoskeletal disorders. If you are an employer in the UK, and you have made design changes that have reduced musculoskeletal risks in your workplace, then nominate yourselves for the awards.â¯Â Weâll celebrate your design solution and share your story with industry to showcase innovation and good practice, helping other businesses to consider how they too can prevent ill-health. â¯Â Any UK employer can enter and there is an additional award category for small and medium size businesses (up to 250 employees). â¯Â The awards, sponsored by HSE and the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CIEHF), aims to inspire employers to think about how changes to work can support musculoskeletal health. This might include:â¯Â - a reduction in lifting, pushing or pulling activitiesâ¯
- removing the need for manual handlingâ¯
- a significant decrease in the need for awkward postures or the force needed to use equipmentâ¯
