Leadfinger Racing B74 A2 Tactic body shell Posted: 16 Jul 2019 03:57 AM PDT Leadfinger Racing now offers a new look for the Team Associated B74 1/10 scale 4WD buggy with the A2 Tactic body shell. The lid not only adds a sleek new look to the ride, but is designed specifically by LFR while keeping the traditional racer in mind. First off, the windshield has been laid down for less rake and the cab pushed back to give the buggy more low profile styling. The combo gives the B74 a super slick and fast look that maintains a lower centre of gravity through out the entire car. Like the A2 Tactic designs before it, the top of the cab has an added roof vent. To help keep everything planted, the rear of the cab has the traditional LFR swoop that disburses air flow to the wing. Added downforce ailerons on the top rear of the side pods also help give the car a balanced feel during high speed straights, cornering and over all jump handling. The body comes in clear with window masks and stickers provided as well as two clear Tactic wings included. JConcepts Super Indoor Tour Rd1 – Report Posted: 16 Jul 2019 01:02 AM PDT Summer time racing in Florida can be a huge challenge with daily thunder storms rolling through causing havoc with many of the state’s outdoor tracks. JConcepts decided to keep racing going strong throughout the summer time rain and kicked off its inaugural Super Indoor Tour this past weekend at NewRed Hobbies located in Ocala, Florida. With this new 3-race series, the organisers decided to try out a new race format giving racers more track time and heads-up racing. Qualifying would consist of 2 rounds of 4-minute long qualifiers using the best 3 consecutive laps with a resort between rounds 1 and 2. All racers then get to race double mains (no bumps) for all classes giving them more heads-up racing and multiple chances to produce their best results. Overall finishing position would be determined by your best finish with fastest time being the tie-break, so if bad luck struck in the first main, you still had a shot of the overall win or a better finish from main 2. Saturday morning saw a great crowd of 123 entries arrive bright and early as the gates opened at 6:30am and qualifying started around 9:45am. Race director Shaun Morrow ran a very quick and efficient race program which had 2 rounds of qualifying finished by 2:20pm. After a 40min break for open practice and main prep, the new double-main format got underway at 3:00pm. The double-main format proved to be very exciting and several racers took full advantage of the 2nd chance main by improving their overall finishing position after breaking down or crashing out of the 1st main. 2WD Modified was the Lee Setser show as he would dominated throughout qualifying and the double A-mains. Lee TQ’d and won both A-mains with flawless driving to take the overall win, but it was Kia Goff and Jeremy Harris who put on a show with epic battles in both Main events. In the end, Kai would finish 2nd overall with Jeremy rounding out the top 3. 4WD Modified was a 2-way battle between Lee Setser and Julien Oliveras throughout qualifying and the double A-mains. Lee easily won A-main 1 with Julien having a mechanical issue, but A-main 2 was an epic battle down to the last lap where the 2 would collide in the air off the table-top and Lee was able to hold onto the win. Young gun Chase Uppole would settle for 3rd overall after losing the tie-break to Julien. Expert 13.5 4WD Buggy had another dominating performance by Melvin Perez as he went on to TQ and win both double A-mains. Erik Everett would bump up from the 3rd qualifying spot to take 2nd overall and Brian Miller would round out the podium in 3rd. Expert 13.5 Stadium Truck was dominated by Jeremy Harris with a TQ and double A-main win. Kai Goff would finish 2nd overall and AJ Marasco rounded out the top 3 with a 26-year old converted EGT, an RC10 GT converted to electric. Expert 17.5 buggy was a bit of a “David vs Goliath” battle between factory driver AJ Marasco and local veteran privateer Mason Mccombs. AJ dominated qualifying with 2 round TQ’s, but it was Mason who dominated the double A-mains with clean and consistent drives as AJ would have to settle for 2nd overall and Austin Craig rounding out the top 3 from his 8th qualifying spot. Independent 17.5 Truck saw local racer Joey Andre dominate as he went on to TQ and win the double A-mains for the overall. Keith Shivers would take full advantage of the 2nd chance main as he finished 6th in A-main #1, but stormed back with a 2nd in A-main #2. Tracey Proctor would bump up from his 4th qualifying position to take 3rd overall after the losing tie-breaker with Keith for 2nd. Independent 17.5 SCT had local racer Bobby Iafrate TQ and win the double A-mains. Scott Setzer and Jason Davis traded off 2nd place finishes with Scott winning the tie-breaker for 2nd overall and Jason settling for 3rd. 40+ 2WD Open Buggy saw a dominating performance from John Prickett as he went onto TQ and win the double A-mains. Erik Everett and Jason Hall would trade 2nd place finishing positions in both A-mains, but it was Erik who would win the tie-breaker for 2nd overall as Jason would have to settle for 3rd. Open Novice class had a great battle for 1st place between TQ Bruce Kuni and George Andres. Bruce took the win in A-main 1, but it was George who took the win in A-main 2 with the faster overall time giving him the overall. Bruce would finished 2nd and young racer Daniel Raytharckmorton rounding out the top 3. Round 2 of the JConcepts Super Indoor Tour will be hosted by Beachline Raceway and Hobbies located in Cocoa, FL on August 10th. BRCA 1/8th Circuit Nationals Rd6 – Report Posted: 16 Jul 2019 12:35 AM PDT Round 6 of the BRCA 1/8th Circuit Nationals was held at Mendip RC Raceway this weekend. 32 drivers were in attendance in nitro and 7 had booked in electric. The track was nicely prepared and sprayed to ensure grip would be good and consistent. The track was still dusty for practice on Saturday morning but the grip quickly came up under the Somerset sun. It was all about getting good lines and watching tyre wear, which would prove to be a bit of an issue on race day. Sunday started as usual with the drivers’ briefing, during which a minute silence was observed in memory of Dave Waters, former BRCA Chairman, who recently passed away. Practice started at 9h15 to get ready for round 1 at 10am. David Spashett set the pace with a 19 in 301, and 19 laps seemed to be needed to make it in the A. It also looked like a few drivers were struggling to make the five minutes on fuel, so that would be another thing to watch. In electric Craig Nutting was the first one to manage 19 laps and seemed to be the man to beat. There was no major pace improvement in round 2 and 3 but Mark Green managed 20 laps. Tim Wood was also on the pace for 20 laps but could only do 19 in 298 in round 3. After round 4 FTD went to Mark Green (Serpent) with 20 in 315, followed by Tim Wood (Shepherd) with 19 in 298. David Spashett (ARC) was 3rd with 19 in 301. The other 7 drivers for the A were Neal King 19L in 302, Andrew Hastings 19L in 306, Richard Hicklin 19L in 307, Sam Snell 19L in 307, Karl Dransfield 19L in 308, James Connolly 19L in 308 and Jason Frost 19L in 308. In electric Craig Nutting was FTD, followed by Luke Drinan and Neil Wallace. To change or not to change, that was the question for the nitro A-final. There was a lot of tyres measuring done in the morning and a lot of thinking done before the start. Which strategy would pay off? Drive conservatively and not change tyres or push and gamble everything on changing? David decided not to change and finished 4th from 3rd on the grid. Mark won with 108 in 1793, followed by Tim, who finished on the rims, with 107 in 1821 and Neil King with 106 in 1803. The electric final leg 1 was first on the line and after the five minutes Craig Nutting crossed the line in first place, followed by Luke Drinan. Craig won both legs and therefore was the electric overall winner. Overall, as in both legs, Luke was 2nd and Mark Passingham was 3rd. The best lap of the finals went to Craig with a 15.86. Round 7 will be held at Brooklands on the 3rd and 4th of August. Source: BRCA [brca.org] | Franck Dambrine The post BRCA 1/8th Circuit Nationals Rd6 – Report appeared first on Red RC. |
