BRCA Touring Car Nationals finale – Report Posted: 03 Sep 2019 06:21 AM PDT The final round of this year’s BRCA Touring Car Nationals were held at the iconic Aldershot last weekend. Heading into it both classes were yet to be decided. In Modified, Olly Jefferies has been battling hard with Elliott Harper all season and either of them could take the championship and in Stock the battle would be between Schumacher’s James Hart and Zak Finlay with Colin Jackson having an outside chance. In Modified Olly dominated proceedings with his prototype Schumacher chassis, winning all four rounds locking out TQ for the meeting. His rival Elliott Harper (Xray) would line up second from Team Associated’s Zak Smith who was also very fast this weekend. Very undramatically the finals were again dominated by Olly, his superior car performance really showed and he was able to cruise to victory taking both legs and securing the BRCA National Title once again. Zak Smith came through from 3rd on the grid to jump Elliott to get 2nd overall with Elliott 3rd. In Stock qualifying was not so straight forward with three drivers tied on the same points at the top. James took it by the virtue of having the faster time, just 0.22 second ahead of Chris Gunter with Zak Finlay just a further 0.27 sec further back. The finals saw James drive excellent controlled races to take victories in both legs by the smallest of margins, this was enough to give James, like Olly, the overall BRCA National Title in Stock. Zak and Marcus jumped Chris in the finals with Zak taking 2nd and Marcus 3rd, making it a Schumacher top 3 in the Stock class. Zak was runner up in the Championship making it a Schumacher 1-2. In the Senior 2WD Buggy class it was the duo of Catalin Matei and Cristian Faur who battled it out with Catalin, top qualifier, made it to the top opening two A-main events. Cristian Faur had to settle for 2nd in front of George Vladu to complete the podium. In a turn of events it was Cristian with the Senior 4WD win thanks to coming out on top in A1 and A2 of the wheeler class as Catalin Matei took the overall runner-up spot. Supeala Florin snatched the final podium spot as George Vladu suffered a mechanical in leg 3. The Junior classes, as expected, offered faster times and a lot of thrills for parents and teams. Infinity World Challenge – Report Posted: 03 Sep 2019 04:49 AM PDT Last weekend the Infinity World Challenge Race was held at the Morac Ring in Austria. In the 1/8th IC Track class it was Nejc Mihelic with the round TQ in Q1 from Branislav Panak in 2nd. Q2 was lead by Branislav most of the time but a last lap mistake allowed Tomas Liptak to TQ the round. Overall however it was Nejc Mihelic with the TQ after the qualifiers. In the first of the two finals it was a clean run for Nejc Mihelic as he managed to run away from Branislav and Tomas while the two battled for 2nd position. The battle was lost for Branislav later as he ran out of fuel on lap 52 and then again on the last lap so it was an easy win for Nejc who would finish 1 lap ahead of Tomas and 2 laps in front of Branislav. In the second final Branislav was sitting in 3rd chasing Tomas, but after the pitstops at lap 17 Panak overtook him thanks to a faster pit stop. So, Branislav was in 2nd with Tomas sitting about 1.5 seconds behind him while Nejc was leading in front. After a few minutes, Nejc got a problem with his engine which allowed Branislav to get into the lead with Tomas in 2nd. Later Tomas caught up and as both entered the pitlane for fuel there was a slow car entering the pitlane as well. Branislav had to slow down, but Tomas was not able to brake as quickly so he accidentally ran into the back of Branislav’s car. The latter dropped into the 2nd position since his engine flamed out, allowing Tomas to pull a half-lap gap. A few laps later Tomas crashed at the end of the straight which allowed Branislav to catch up and lap him. From that moment on Branislav was able to shift into cruise mode to bring home the win from Tomas in 2nd and Anze Setina in 3rd. Over in the 200m Nitro Touring class it was Michal Abrahamek with the win from Igor Liptak and Lovro Sustersic.
